PTI's CMWC 56

This card is for the PTI Casual MidWeek Challenge to use Enchanted Evening, Summer Sunrise, and Ripe Avocado together.

CMWC56 {09-16-2009} - Enchanted Summer Avocado

I made this card using the bicycle from Everyday Button Bits, with Avocado Buttons. I sponged on some grass and sky while the label was still in the Spellbinders die. I used black thread to sew the buttons to the card.

I colored the seat gold...a cycle suitable the malliot juane!

The avocado panel is heat embossed using Polka Dot basics. I added Versamark dots to the summer sunrise background to try to tie that to the avocado panel.

Firsts: Sewing buttons to the card, first time to ink up this set.

Next time: I like all of the elements separately, I'm just not sure about them together. I think maybe PB2 is too modern for the classic cycle!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Enchanted Evening, Summer Sunrise, and Ripe Avocado
Ink: Memento Black, PTI Fresh Snow, Versamark
Stamps: PTI Everyday Button Bits, Retro Backgrounds, Polka Dot Basics 1 & 2
Other: Prisma marker, embossing powder, Labels die

Favorite Grillmaster

I love how this card turned out!
This is a "Thank You" for my brother, who invited us to his house for a lovely meal out on his new deck. Since it's a guy card, I kept it clean and simple. Hopefully, I'll remember to mail it out!

Firsts: Handwriting part of the sentiment...my brother definitely won't mind.

Next Time: Try not to smear black ink in the middle of the card after you are all finished, requiring the addition of a very short tree!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Spring Rain, New Leaf, Pure Poppy
Ink: Memento Black
Stamps: Sentiment from PTI Everyday Classics, Rubbernecker Grill, Tree from ?
Other: Paper Shapers Punch, White gel pen, Copic grey marker

Glimmer Mist Trees

These are three additional fall trees I made for the PTI blog hop. (See post below.) I mass produced these images by spraying an entire sheet of PTIs Vintage Cream cardstock with Glimmer Mist and then punching out circles. I then stamped the leaves and heat embossed all four, then did the sponging.

I tried a couple of different colors for the night sky. My favorites were the Enchanted Evening to the right and the Spring Rain that I used on the blog hop card.

I also tried an Ocean Tides version. It was neat to see the different effects you get by using different colors over the glimmer mist. I thought Enchanted Evening looked like a night sky. It could be fun to use for a halloween card!

Thanks for visiting

PTI August Blog Hop

This card is for PTIs August Blog Hop. The challenge is :

August is the month that Papertrey celebrates all things autumn! What better way to get inspired for the upcoming season change than each 0ther! Our challenge to you is to create a project inspired by any aspect of fall. How about texture like fabrics, burlap, courduroy or stitching. Then there is color with hues found in autumn leaves, fall berries and other late season delectables. Patterns or motifs such as leaves, pumpkins, wheat and more. Try to use these attributes in fun and interesting ways that may be a little out of your normal comfort zone. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Here is what I came up with:

This was way out of my comfort zone! I started by spraying glimmer mist onto Cream card stock, then embossed the tree from Fathers Knows Best and sponged over it with Spring Rain ink to create muti-colored leaves against a blue sky. The "roots" are sponged with Ripe Avocado to ground the tree. (Got to be a pun in there somewhere!)
Here is a close-up of the main image:

Thanks for visiting.

Firsts:
  • Using glimmer mist - can't remember the colors, but the green is a pretty good match to Ripe Avocado
  • Heat embossing then inking over top
  • Using my new Inksentials foam blending tool, which is fabulous
  • Inking up Polka Dot Basics 2, which I dearly love, but found harder to line up than 1
  • Sponging while label is still in Nestabilities, fun technique that really adds a lot.
Next time:
  • Reverse the button and sentiment from Autumn Abundance for better balance.

Supplies:

Cardstock: PTI Vintage Cream, Enchanted Evening, Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avovado
Ink: PTI Spring Rain, Ripe Avocado, Versamark, Dark Chocolate
Stamps: PTI Men of Life, Autumn Abundance, Polka Dot Basics II
Other: Glimmer Mist, Vintage Buttons, Vintage Twine

Tea for Two Get Well

I made this card in response to the Not at CHA - Blog Hop Challenge on the PTI forum. The challenge was to console ourselves for missing CHA by giving some love to a little used set. :) I used the Tea for Two set which had not seen ink yet, despite my love for tea. It's very simple
but I'm quite happy with colors, which were inspired by the super talanted Dawn McVey. Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Melon Berry, Rustic Cream, Michael's Pink
Ink: Pallete Bella Rose
Ribbons: PTI Ivory Saddle Stitch
Stamps: PTI Tea fr Two, Background Basics: Retro

Happy Camper Invites

These are invitations I made for a recent Double Surprise Birthday Party. They use the Kim Hughes Bear Hugs and Welcome Spring stamp sets from CHF and PTI paper. I love the patterned paper with the trees. It's from KI Memories, and goes so well with the combo of Spring Rain and Ripe Avocado. The invitation is postcard style with the party info on the other side. Note to self: It's important to put the date of the party on the invite! LOL.

The whole party had a Camping theme and I made these tags to go on little bags of trail mix that we gave as favors.

These tags went on bags of Swedish fish as favors for the kids. The "LITTLE" uses PTIs Simple Alphabet. Spring Rain and Pure Poppy is a yummy combo as well.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Spring Rain, Lemon Tart, Ripe Avocade, Pure Poppy
Ink: PTI Ripe Avocade, Pure Poppy
Stamps: PTI Simple Alphabet, CHF Bear Hugs
Patterned Paper: KI Memories Grateful Tree farm, Colorbok River Rocks
Other: Marvey Punches

Delight in Life

I made this card for my Mom's birthday. I used the Life stamp set from PTI and PTI cardstock. I colored the stamps with Tombow watercolor markers, then spritzed them with water.

It's probably tough to see, but I stamped on PTI Shimmer cardstock.

I used a ScorPal to create a lattice on the Summer Sunrise mat.

The blue layer uses a stamp from Beyond Basic Borders. I love the color of Versa watermark on Spring Rain cardstock. The yellow layer also uses Polka Dot Basics and one of the new EK Success Slim Profile punches.

Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI Plum Pudding, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart, Shimmer White
Ink: PTI Plum Pudding
Ribbons: PTI White Polka Dot
Stamps: PTI Life
Other: EK Success punch, Tombow Markers
